How Much Does a WhatsApp Bot Cost? The Real 2026 Breakdown
8 September 2026 · 6 min read
There is no single answer to "how much does a WhatsApp bot cost", because the bill has several parts. Understanding them protects you from an offer that looks cheap and then doubles two months in.
The three cost components
- Provider subscription: a monthly fee for the platform, the AI, and support.
- Meta’s message fees: since 1 July 2025 Meta charges per message rather than per conversation, and since 1 October 2026 every customer-service message your business sends — that is, every reply — is charged too, at a rate that depends on the customer’s country.
- Setup: entering your business info and products — one-off, but it takes time.
What changed on 1 October 2026
Until October, replies inside a chat the customer started were free. Now each one carries a Meta fee, at the same rate as utility messages in that market and with no volume discounts. One exception remains: messages in the 72 hours after a customer starts a chat from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or your Facebook Page’s WhatsApp button are still free. Rates differ by country and change over time, so check Meta’s current rate card.

Hidden costs worth asking about
- One-off setup or training fees.
- Monthly message or conversation caps, and the overage rate.
- Is Arabic-language support included, or extra?
- Are Meta’s fees billed to you directly at Meta’s rate, or does the provider add a markup on top?
- Does the bot send one combined reply, or several messages in a row? Since October 2026 every extra message costs money.
- Do you own your data and conversations, and can you export them?
How to calculate ROI honestly
Work out what one customer is worth to you, then estimate how many you lose each month to slow replies and after-hours messages. Add the subscription to your expected Meta message fees: if two extra customers a month cover the total, the decision is easy. Automation is measured in recovered sales, not in feature counts.
The most expensive mistake: the cheapest bot that does not understand your customers
A cheap bot that replies in broken Arabic or invents prices costs more than its subscription, because it drives customers away and creates errors you fix by hand. The real benchmark is Arabic reply quality and data accuracy.
Wakeel: clear pricing and a trial before you pay
Wakeel publishes its plans and prices, and you can try it free before subscribing to judge its Arabic replies against your customers’ real questions. Meta bills its fees to your own WhatsApp account at Meta’s rate — Wakeel adds nothing on top — and Wakeel merges a customer’s burst of messages into one reply, so fewer paid messages go out.
