WhatsApp Business API Cost in Saudi Arabia (2026, in SAR)
7 October 2026 · 6 min read
What does WhatsApp Business API cost in Saudi Arabia in 2026? Since 1 October 2026, Meta charges for every customer-service reply your business sends on the WhatsApp Business Platform, where those replies used to be free. This article works out the cost in riyals with Saudi examples, shows when messages are still free, and how to keep the bill down.
What changed?
- Since 1 July 2025, Meta charges per message rather than per conversation.
- Since 1 October 2026, every regular message your business sends in a chat — every reply to a customer — carries a fee at the utility rate for the customer’s country.
- On 1 April 2026, Meta raised the marketing rate for Saudi Arabia and added the Saudi riyal as a billing currency.
- The exception: messages in the 72 hours after a customer starts a chat from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or your Facebook Page’s WhatsApp button stay free.
The approximate cost of a reply in Saudi Arabia
A reply to a customer with a Saudi number costs about USD 0.0107 according to Meta’s September 2026 fee table published by Twilio — roughly SAR 0.04 at SAR 3.75 per dollar. Marketing (template) messages cost several times more, so check the current figure in Meta’s rate card before any campaign.
The rate follows the customer’s number, not your country: a reply to a customer with a UAE number is charged at the UAE rate, about USD 0.0157 (roughly SAR 0.06).
Examples in SAR
- 1,000 customer-service replies a month: about SAR 40.
- A restaurant in Jeddah answering 30 customers a day, two replies each: about 1,800 replies a month — roughly SAR 72.
- A clinic in Riyadh sending 3,000 replies a month across bookings, confirmations and questions: about SAR 120.
- Chats started from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad: replies in the first 72 hours carry no Meta message fee.
These are Meta’s fees only, plus any taxes Meta applies. Rates change, so always check the official WhatsApp Business Platform rate card before you set a budget.
How to keep costs down
- One combined reply instead of several messages: every message your business sends now costs money. Wakeel merges a customer’s burst of messages and answers once.
- Click-to-WhatsApp ads: if you advertise on Instagram or Facebook, point the ad to WhatsApp to use the free 72-hour window.
- Templates only when needed: after 24 hours since the customer’s last message you need an approved template, so send offers to people who care, not your whole list.
- Complete information from day one: clear prices, hours and policies mean first-time answers and fewer messages.
- Check your usage monthly in WhatsApp Manager.
